Lumitex

Lumitex is a textile lighting object that transforms the surrounding environment into an atmospheric in-between space through its distinctive illumination and responsive materiality. Activated by a simple hand gesture, the installation not only emits light but also initiates a physical transformation: the textile structure unfolds and expands outward into the surrounding space, creating a dynamic interaction between object, body, and environment.

Light as a medium gets explored not merely as a functional element, but as a spatial and sensory medium capable of reshaping perception and atmosphere. Its lamella-like structure is inspired by the Japanese paper art of Kirigami, whose principles of cutting and folding enable fluid transitions between surface and volume. Through this interplay of movement, light, and textile transformation, Lumitex proposes a responsive spatial experience that exists between sculpture, architecture, and interactive design.
